Central High Valedictorian
Banks Stamp was named Central High School’s valedictorian.
Upon graduation, Banks will attend University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Honors College, pursuing a major in Neuroscience and a minor in Chemistry, as well as working within the Science and Technology Honors Program.
“After finishing my undergraduate major, I intend to pursue a career in the medical field, specifically in orthopedic surgery. With the experience of understanding biological functions, and the design process behind applicable research, I will be able to actively improve patients’ quality of life while simultaneously working towards advancing medicine,” he said.
Banks received a full tuition and fees scholarship to UAB, as well as three other scholarships. Some of his awards include: Governor’s Proclamation and Teen of the Year.
His advice to incoming freshmen: Take the initiative to pursue your dreams. When you feel nervous, it is just your body’s way of saying that you are about to do something extraordinary.
Banks is the son of Jason and Amy Stamp, and the grand son of Joe and Julie Banks, and Paul and Sheril Stamp.
Central High School Salutatorian
Janiah Fryer was named Central High School’s salutatorian.
Upon graduation, Janiah will attend Auburn University to pursue a degree in accounting. She plans to also earn her master’s degree and become a CPA.
“I aim to be outstanding and to distinguish myself from others. My objective is to earn additional certificates and credentials. I seek to become a motivational speaker and activist,” she said.
As a Career Technical Student at Central High School, Janiah was able to gain Dual Enrollment credits through Chattahoochee Community Valley College. Because of her diligence, she was able to become the first student of Central to become a Certified Phlebotomist.
Janiah participated in Future Business Leaders of America where she won numerous awards. She also belonged to Beta Club, National Honor Society and Central High’s Ambassadors.
Janiah is the daughter of Jimmie Fryer and YuLanda Fryer.
