4-H Public Speaking Competition Coming Up

Hey, kids, think you’ve got the gift of gab? Or do you want to become a better public speaker? Do you like telling jokes or stories?  The Russell County Extension 4-H is hosting a public speaking competition for youth ages nine to 18 with two categories. The “Speak Up Alabama” category is for persuasive and informative speakers, and the “Have I Got a Story” category is for storytellers.




The competition will be held Tuesday, April 23 at 5:30 p.m. ET at the Phenix City/Russell County Library located at 1501 17thAvenue. To register, call 334-298-6845 by April 19. Call that same number, if more information is needed or email paynegl@aces.edu.

While you do not need to be enrolled in 4-H to enter, you will need to be enrolled to win a prize. Enrollment will be open at the event. There are three levels of competition: Junior, Intermediate, and Senior. Prizes are as follows: first place: $25, second place: $20, and third place: $15, awarded in each category/level.
