Editorial: Food choices make us happy, happy, happy
The opening of Moe’s this week makes me happy. Actually, the opening of any food place makes me happy. More food choices and variety means no boring lunches. Plus, walking into Moe’s and hearing everyone yell “Welcome to Moe’s” is so much fun.
There have been a number of new places to eat announce themselves recently. Popeye’s is being constructed in the former Bruster’s location. Drive by there today and it looks nothing like it did a few weeks ago. American Deli, Jack’s, Culvers, Del Taco – all the places are going up and offering residents more choices.
What are some other places you would like to see in our area? I would love to see a specialty donut shop. There is one in Atlanta called Simply Donuts that offers mini creations topped with the most flavorful fruit or chocolate, peanut butter, or bacon.
We have a place in Crawford offering extreme milkshakes. Those things are awesome.
Perhaps a place with really good shrimp and grits or gumbo would be good to have near us.
Any time I travel, we always mark the food places because there is something unique we can find and eat. Mostly, we can take photos of the outrageous dishes and post them on social media. That’s half the fun of eating good food. In Savannah, we visit the Pirate House. In New Orleans, it was The Gumbo Shop and all the bakeries for pralines and king cakes.
What would be something iconic that people would want to come here to eat? If you have any ideas, send them to email@example.com or leave us a message on our Facebook page. Let’s see what kinds of ideas come up.
