This work week has gone by very quickly for us at The Citizen. Our weeks run from Wednesday to Tuesday. It’s the first day we plan the next newspaper edition to the day we go to print.
This past work week, we’ve made some changes in our office and the way we hope to bring news to you — our readers. For 65 years, this newspaper has been part of the community. It brings us joy when you send us photos and stories you’d like to see in the paper. It also thrills us to see you sharing our stories on social media because it means people who may not be able to see the physical copy of the newspaper can now read about the wonderful people who make up our community.
It’s a struggle to be a weekly newspaper, but we’ve adapted to it in a way that works for us. We get to focus on the cool people and events and bring light to East Alabama. We also know that there are a lot of breaking news stories that are important as soon as they become news. In that effort, we’ve begun putting more news online.
If you’ve visited our website in the last week, you’ll notice that we have been updating it three times a day with news.
We’ve noticed that in doing that, you’re reading more of the stories we post on social media. We’re so appreciative of that. Continue to check out our sites and sharing the news.
With that said, we want to invite you to send us your events and news ideas. We’re always looking for stories to share and we need your help. If you know of someone in East Alabama who is doing great things, whether students, teachers, community members, etc., we want to hear about it. If your kids are participating in sports, send us some photos. Just be sure to include what’s happening in the pictures and when the event happened. If your organization or church has an event coming up, send it to us so we can publicize it.
Whatever you’ve got, send it to us at firstname.lastname@example.org or visit citizenofeastalabama.com and share it through our “Contact Us” page. Don’t forget to join us the fourth Thursday of the month from 7:30 to 9 a.m. for breakfast to share ideas.
