Join the East Alabama Chamber of Commerce and Chamber Foundation March 29 at 10 a.m. on the Phenix City Riverwalk to celebrate the dedication of three benches to the city.

Chamber President Dennis Beson said the chamber and foundation want to help improve the riverwalk by replacing the metal benches in the area.

“The foundation purchased one bench and quickly following, two members of the board of Directors, Dr. Brindlea Griffin and Lance Brooks, decided to purchase a bench in memory of a deceased loved one,” he said.

Beson said the ultimate goal is to replace all 12 benches. The first three will be installed Friday. If anyone would like to purchase a bench in memory of or in honor of someone, they can be purchased through the chamber foundation, which is a non-profit organization. The $2,500 bench would be tax deductible. Contact the Chamber of Commerce at 334-298-3639.

The public is invited to attend the dedication celebration. It will take place on the riverwalk just south of the wooden portion, south of 13th street.
