Smiths Station High School closed out spring football practices with an intra-squad scrimmage in front of a large crowd at T.C. Britton Field on Thursday night. The Panthers will enter the 2019 season under second year coach Mike Glisson looking to build on the improvements made last year. “We had a good spring, the kids worked really hard. Tonight was about finding out who can make plays and who can help us win games,” Glisson said.
More than 90 student athletes participated in spring drills over the last two weeks and included 28 seniors. The Panthers return their junior starting quarterback Corey Minton and their leading rusher from last season, senior L.C. Harris. Glisson noted that the spring scrimmage gives his staff a chance to get everyone on film in game action to evaluate what they can do and see where improvements are needed.
“We’ve just got to keep it going. We’ve got to make plays and enjoy playing the game and competing. The motto hasn’t changed. We have to get better every day.”
