On Thursday, March 8, the Mayor Eddie Lowe’s annual Prayer Breakfast will be held at Martin-Idle Hour Park Community Center. The breakfast will be from 7 a.m. until about 8:30 a.m. This is the 5th year the city is holding this community-wide event. “The purpose of the event is to bring people together,” said Mayor Lowe.
The breakfast will “Show how the city is unified, in spite of how others may try to divide it,” Mayor Lowe said.
The program for the event will include an invocation, song and guest speaker, who is chosen every year in order to reflect the diversity of the city. At the breakfast, “We are going to pray for the city, nurses, doctors, and police officers,” said Mayor Lowe.
Invitations were sent to community leaders but the event is open and free to the public.
