It’s prime time for local public entities to hold their public budget hearings.
Now’s the time to ask questions if you want to know how these entities are planning to designate funds for various projects/expenses in the upcoming fiscal year.
The City of Phenix City held its public hearing Aug. 9.
The Phenix City School District holds its second public hearing tonight, Aug. 16, at its regular board meeting (the first hearing was held Tuesday past Citizen deadline).
The Russell County Board of Education is scheduled to hold its first and second public budget hearings on Aug. 28 and Sept. 11.
And, the Russell County Commission is scheduled to begin its public budget work session Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. ET (or, earlier, if finished that day). If necessary, the commission will continue its discussions the day of its regularly scheduled meeting Sept. 12, which begins at 9:30 a.m. ET, with plans to recess for lunch and return to continue discussions at 1:30 p.m. ET, if the budget session is still not completed by that point.
