CB&T of East Alabama today begins transitioning to the Synovus brand name. Signage and other legacy branding at Commercial Bank and Trust’s branches in Phenix City/Russell County will be updated with Synovus branding by Jan. 19. CB&T of East Alabama is among the first of Synovus’ 26 non-Synovus branded bank divisions to complete the footprint-wide brand transition, which will conclude in June 2018.

“This bank has been community-based and customer-focused since its founding in 1909 and that won’t change,” said Wade Burford, Synovus market president for Phenix City/Russell County. “Adopting the Synovus name while maintaining our local, relationship-centered delivery model will increase awareness of our regional presence, our financial capabilities, and our ability to meet the needs of customers and prospects.

Acquired by Synovus (then known as CB&T Bancshares) in 1989, CB&T of East Alabama was among more than 60 acquisitions over the next three decades that would become Georgia’s second largest bank, with $32 billion in assets and a presence in five Southeastern states. Synovus operates three retail branches in Russell County at 1000 13th St., 1806 Stadium Drive, and 3726 Highway 280 North.

Synovus Bank, a Georgia-chartered, FDIC-insured bank, provides commercial and retail banking, investment, and mortgage services together with its affiliates through 250 branches in Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Florida, and Tennessee. Synovus Bank was recognized as the “Most Reputable Bank” by American Banker and the Reputation Institute in 2017.  Synovus Bank is on the web at synovus.com, on Twitter @synovus, and on LinkedIn at http://linkedin.com/company/synovus.
