On Jan. 9, enjoy Applebee’s 2 for $20 or a lunch combo and help a local organization raise money at the same time. From 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. ET, participate in Dining to Donate for Project Greene Light. The Phenix City restaurant will donate 15 percent of every customer’s check as long as diners bring in the Dining to Donate flier. Print the flier at Projectgreenelight.org.

“This is our first time doing this event with Applebee’s, and we are really excited for it,” said Bradley Lutz, executive director of Project Greenelight. “One of the most important things is to let your server know you’re there for it prior to ordering. The more people we have participate, the more likely businesses will be willing to partner with us in the future for similar events.”

Lutz said that raising funds is important for a non-profit organization because private donations are where the bulk of its budget comes from.

“This is a great opportunity for people to invite some friends and family out to eat, and support a good cause at the same time. We also love that we get to support a Phenix City business at the same time,” he said.

Project Greenelight’s mission is to provide emergency care for children entering into foster care in Russell County.

The organization is also planning a 5K for a Saturday in May to correspond with National Foster Care Month. More information will be available in the coming months.
