The 29th Annual Twin Cities Classic Horse Show will be Saturday at the Exchange Club Horse Park, 3949 Highway 431 South, beginning at 4 p.m. ET.
“This show actually began many years ago in Columbus and was called the Goodwill Greater Columbus Horse Show, and it was located where the Civic Center is now,” said Dee Cantrell. “When they demolished the riding ring to build the Civic Center, the Exchange Club decided to take the show over and relocated it to Phenix City. It has been on the Alabama side of the river for 29 years now. Willie Richardson, a member of the Exchange Club, was instrumental in securing this show for Phenix City, and the Walking Horse Championship Stake was named after him.”
The event is a fund-raiser for youth, child advocacy and non-profit organizations. Entry is $5 and children under 12 are $1.50. There will be 39 classes including pleasure horses, halter, model, performance and racking.
Concessions will be available and the community is welcome to attend the event. Contact Steve Abbott, show chairman, at 706-289-8288 for more information.
