We need the Word of God

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Our world is full of words. Voices. Sounds. It can be confusing. How we need to hear a clear voice, a pure voice, a voice of compassion and direction, a word of knowledge and wisdom and understanding.  How we need to hear the voice of God.

God has blessed us with words. His words. His book. His plan. His heart. His thoughts. His feelings. We can choose to hear, to focus on, to meditate on, to speak, to sing, to pray, to declare, to believe, to practice His Word. We can fill our life with His Words. What a difference His Word makes. His Word saves. His Word creates. His Word encourages. His Word corrects. His Word enlightens. His Word gives light.

The world started with the Word. In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. Jesus is the living Word. He is the beginning and the end, and everything in between.

Would you have life in your life? Abundant life, eternal life, everlasting life, the life of the ages, the life of God. Without the Word there is no life. Jesus and His Word cannot be divided or separated. They are one. If you want to experience real life, be sure and give Jesus and His Word priority in your life daily.

Jesus healed people with His Word. Jesus set the captives free with His Word. The Word of grace builds us up and makes us strong in Christ.  Jesus said, My Words are spirit and they are life.

What will you do with the Word in the new year? I encourage you to make room for the Bible – The Word of God – at the top of your list for 2018. Just three chapters a day and you will finish the whole Bible in a year. Two chapters a day about two years. One chapter a day about three years. There is a plan for every person.

We are so blessed with technology. There are so many ways to get into the Word of God these days and get the Word of God into us. D. L. Moody used to say that Christians are too generous. We hear a preacher bring forth a message from the Word of God and the first thing we think about is Joe or Sally or Bill. Instead of keeping those words from God, we give them away by saying, “So and so needs this sermon.”

The result is that the Word has no effect on our heart and life. We need to take in the Word of God when we hear it and apply the riches of Christ to our heart and life. Allow God to use it to move in our life. Then we will be able to share it with others at the opportune time and be a blessing to others instead of being judgmental.

I need the word of God. You need the Word of God. Let’s receive it and allow God to do His work in our life.
