This holiday season the City of Smiths Station, City Hall is all aglow with festive charm. Thanks to various civic groups and local student clubs and associations, holiday greens adorned with red ribbons have been hung, and the town Christmas tree glistens on the front lawn. I’ve taken special notice of area establishments who have seemingly adopted a coordinating theme. Churches and schools have announced special services, concerts and pageants; and this week many gathered to celebrate the lighting of the tree. Through common appreciations, we as a community are drawn closer this time of year. We give thanks and honor traditions that we share.
The Smiths Station City Hall Art Galleries present new exhibitions this December. Continuing to make the arts more accessible, these galleries provide public exhibition to both local art students and area professionals. This season, as we reflect upon traditions shared with family, friends and community, a special exhibition will address stewardship, historic preservation and landmarks.
Sketches from Local History will feature the return of memorable images commemorating recent historic events and will also serve as debut exhibition of new renderings in ink, inspired by both history and current progress.
Visit the Smiths Station City Hall Art Galleries during week day City Hall hours, Monday–Friday.
