MONTGOMERY – Since taking office, Secretary of State John H. Merrill has coined a number of mantras – one of the most notable being the use of “#All67” to reflect his commitment to visiting and working with all 67 of Alabama’s counties. 2019 marked the seventh year in a row and the eighth time he has visited each county. In fact, in 2019, he made 608 unique visits to Alabama’s counties.
Each year, Secretary Merrill makes at least one visit to every county across the State of Alabama. Some of these visits include speaking to schools to teach about Alabama history, touring local businesses, meeting with county Probate Judges or Boards of Registrars to discuss matters related to elections, reporting to civic clubs, speaking to church groups, and countless other events.
During each of these visits, Merrill takes the time to listen and understand the needs of his constituents to learn how he, in his capacity as Secretary of State, can better serve the people of Alabama.
“When I first began campaigning for public office in 2013, I learned that the best way to assess the needs of a community is by meeting with the people who live there in their town,” stated Merrill.
In his promise to being as accessible and transparent as possible to the people he serves, Secretary Merrill makes his personal cell phone number available to everyone he encounters.
“As your 53rd Secretary of State, please be reminded that I am fully dedicated to helping you. I look forward to meeting with many more Alabamians in 2020 to learn about how our office can better assist all 67 counties,” asserted Merrill.
