CVCC Softball:Team plays Andrew College March 19

Madelynn Formby and Madison Whipkey combined for eight hits on March 8 when the CVCC Lady Pirates (7-13) split a double header with Shelton State on the road. They were 2-for-3 each in a 9-7 win to start the double header. Formby hit her third homerun of the season in the win. Sydney Daugherty hit her team leading sixth double and drove in two runs.  Starting pitcher Camry Blackmon pitched 61/3rd innings, allowed six hits and struck out five. She lowered her ERA to 2.86 and now has 24 total strikeouts on the season. Center fielder Tatum Jones robbed a homerun in the seventh inning to keep the Lady Pirates ahead. Shelton State won 15-11 in game two. Shortstop Taylor Hamblin was 3-for-5, scored three times and drove in a run in the loss. Formby homered again and drove in four. Whipkey was 2-for-4 and scored twice. Daugherty was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Savannah Bussey pitched 6 innings, allowed 12 runs on 10 hits and struck out three.  CVCC will travel to play Enterprise State on March 15 for a double header and will play Coastal Alabama-Bay Minette on March 17 on the road. They will host Andrew College in a non-conference double header on March 19 beginning at 3 p.m. ET.
