The Chattahoochee Valley Community College (CVCC) Lady Pirates (10-22, 3-7) are still looking to hit their stride in ACCC games this season. They split a double header with Coastal Alabama in Brewton, Ala. on March 25.
They dominated game one 14-1. The Lady Pirates scored seven runs in the top of the first. Savannah Bussey allowed only one unearned run in the win through seven innings. Bailey Smith led the CVCC offense with five RBI and was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles.
Madison Whipkey was 3-for-4. Madelynn Formby and Sydney Daugherty had two hits each.
CVCC dropped game two 7-6. Formby hit her team leading sixth homerun and drove in a pair of runs. Whipkey had her second three-hit game of the day going 3-for-5.
Andrew College swept the Lady Pirates (13-3, 11-8) on March 26 at CVCC. Haley White pitched six innings and did not allow an earned run. She allowed six hits and struck out six. Kiara Price homered for CVCC.
Daugherty and Formby had three hits in the game two loss. After surrendering six runs in the third, Tatum Jones doubled for CVCC to start the bottom of the third. She scored when Formby doubled to cut the lead to 6-1.
Jones and Daugherty had RBI singles in the fourth to draw CVCC to within three runs. Andrew added another run in the top of the fifth and three in the sixth to extend the lead to 10-3.
CVCC scored five runs in the bottom of the six to cut the lead to 10-8. Daugherty, Whipkey, Taylor Hamblin all had run scoring hits in the inning. Smith and Gamble also had an RBI in the inning.
The Lady Pirates look to get back in the race for the ACCC South title on March 29 when they host Lurleen B. Wallace for a double header starting at 1 p.m. ET.
