The Chattahoochee Valley Community College (CVCC) Lady Pirates were dominant in the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) last season. Their high powered offense has led them to a 7-3 record through their first 10 games this season.
They are second in the ACCC in points per game (76.8). They have hit triple digits twice this season. On Nov. 18, they defeated West Georgia Tech 104-46. Most recently, they defeated West Georgia Tech again 128-29 on Dec. 11.
CVCC has two players in the top 10 scorers in the ACCC. Freshman guard Zikiria Williams is seventh in the conference averaging 13.9 points per game. Freshman guard Audrey McElhaney is ranked ninth with a 13.3 average.
Williams scored 23 points with nine rebounds on Dec. 11 against West Georgia Tech. McElhaney added 18 points with eight rebounds. CVCC ended the first quarter with a 31-6 lead and never looked back.
On Dec. 13, CVCC defeated Andrew College at home inside Key Hall 94-67. The Lady Pirates outscored Andrew 21-12 at the end of the first quarter. Both teams scored 20 in the second quarter. CVCC began to pull away in the fourth after leading by 14 to start the final quarter.
Zikiria and Brittney Williams scored 18 points each. Timi’a Swanson had 15 rebounds and three steals. The major difference in the game was the rebound discrepancy. CVCC out-rebounded Andrew 52-36.
CVCC will travel to Tallahassee, Fla. today to Northwest Florida State. They will return home on Jan. 6 when they host Snead State at Key Hall at 2 p.m. ET.
