Presley Copeland and his wife Sabrina are a young couple with five children. They are trying to make a better life for themselves and their children and dream of a better future. That dream is why they have opened their new restaurant, The American Dream. Sabrina has more than 20 years in the food service industry, and the restaurant is named after her dad’s restaurant of the same name that was in upstate New York—and the name is because both Sabrina and Presley believe in the ‘American Dream.’

“We are living the American dream with our family and buying a house here,” Sabrina said. “People say it’s dead, but it’s not dead.”

A new member of the East Alabama Chamber of Commerce, the American Dream is Located at 2245 Lee Road 430 (where Mike and Ed’s used to be) and is serving up good ‘ol country barbecue (BBQ), ribs, brisket, burgers, and fresh, straight-cut fries. They also offer chicken tenders, wings, grilled chicken, and amazing salads, as well as some of the best desserts in Smiths Station. With an in-house baker, they are able to serve fresh peanut butter pie, Key lime pie, and banana pudding. Sabrina said they will be offering special treats on occasion, like fried brownies. And to go with your meal, you have a choice of a variety of sodas, tea, or fresh lemonade. And if all of that isn’t enough, the Copelands also do catering for events.

“If there is something you want, let us know,” Sabrina said. She wants the community to feel welcome and for people to keep coming back for their favorites.
